The Apollo Motorcycle Club is proud to present the
39th
Annual Pumpkin Run
The
Apollo motorcycle club launched this weekend’s events and aimed
for the stars. What I thought was going to be a dull weekend,
because we were going to miss an FTR event,
turned into an all
day and night adventure. “Words cannot describe this weekend’s
events.” They started
pumping water into what started as the end of the parking lot
and ended up as a dirty rotten FUN mud pit.
To begin there
were all sorts of quads in attendance and some dirt bikes.
There were big quads
and some lil 50’s all hitting the mud pit with one common goal
(have fun and sling some mud).
This went on for 24 hours.
The party went on until morning and as a team,
we decided to build a couple
of mud machines and participate in these types of events
more often. At first glance we thought we would be treated like
outsiders since our team is based on cross country racing. We
were very wrong. The people at this event welcomed us with open
arms, a nice cold beer and a shot of something that I thought
was on fire. From
the start we used only our practice bikes. They all ran smooth
through the monster trails Apollo mapped out.
There were a few
straight sections you could reach
70-80 miles an hour on if you could see through
all the dust.
Marty our new
rider/mechanic looked like a pro riding a borrowed bike from
Alex Rodriguez who was
unable to attend the event.
Marty flew through
all the trails like he has been doing it his whole life.
And he has, growing up in Georgia his first ride was a
250r and he decided then he wanted to stay in this industry for
a long time. He is attending
motorcycle mechanic school and should graduate soon with honors
and ready to tackle the central Florida’s demand for fixing
broken machines.
All in all it could have
been the best all around weekend I have ever had besides a
G.N.C.C. event. What we got out of this weekend is that the mud
riders try hard to have the loudest and best performing mud
bikes in the world.
It seemed like
every machine that came by our pit was louder than the last.
